What differentiates Rentwise
from other Hardware Suppliers? |
| |
Rentwise specialize in providing the correct level of
hardware for the Job function and effectively saving unnecessary
expenditure on the latest and greatest where it’s
not required in your organization. |
| |
|
| 2. |
Wouldn’t spending
on the latest and greatest be more practical as the new
specification would have a longer life expectancy? |
| |
In the past this would have been correct. For example
when early stage Pentium chips were introduced Microsoft
were also constantly introducing new operating systems.
But currently the latest operating system is XP and this
can be run efficiently on a PIII / entry level PIV with
256 memory. Microsoft themselves recommend just a PII
233 / 128MB as the basic specification for XP http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/evaluation/sysreqs.asp
|
| |
|
| 3. |
So the Rentwise programme
is designed more around providing a consistent operating
system than specification? |
| |
Exactly, we recognize that most organizations
have allowed an IT platform to develop that encompasses
operating systems from 3.1 to XP and at the same time
486 to PIV. We work with the client to upgrade the back
end hardware to allow migration to a standard operating
system that will allow increased efficiency and less exposure
to virus and corruption issues. |
| |
|
| 4. |
Where can we use Rentwise
then to increase savings while being efficient? |
| |
The simple answer is look at the job scope of individuals
and then review with the Rentwise support team where efficiency
can be improved. On cost savings we would recommend a
specification that suits the job i.e. Clerical / Admin
/ Middle Management may use a high end PIII or entry level
PIV. Accounts that have heavy software usage would look
at a PIV with a memory capacity to suit (remember most
PIII and PIV’s can take up to 1 Gig in Memory. We
also have clients that minimize staff access to the internet,
prevent the use of CD’s and generally ensure their
staff are “working and not surfing”. |
| |
|
| 5. |
If I need new equipment
for “critical” areas can you also finance
this? |
| |
Yes we are happy to finance new branded equipment. What
we generally do is a job scope review with the client
and then provide appropriate technology by job function.
For example we have one client whose sales teams travel
globally and we provide new equipment with 3 year next
day onsite warranty. Domestically however this client
uses all reconditioned product. |
| |
|
| 6. |
What is an operating lease
and why does it have advantages for a company? |
| |
An operating lease in pure terms is an agreement to
contact a service or product. In the case of Rentwise
this is IT Hardware. The ownership of the hardware stays
under Rentwise and the client agrees to rent for a given
period of time. Increasingly companies are measured by
“return on investment” (ROI) and are driven
to remove any depreciating asset from their balance sheet
which has a negative impact on ROI. In addition as IT
Hardware has become commoditized it is more efficient
for an organization to expense the use of IT off rather
than recognize it as a rapidly depreciating asset. |
| |
|
| 7. |
Occasionally we receive
offers from OEM hardware vendors where new equipment is
marginally more expensive than your reconditioned pricing,
how can we justify using reconditioned equipment in this
scenario? |
| |
Our belief is that our total package brings greater
benefits. One common mistake made is to compare a new
PC with a high end reconditioned product. If for example
you compare the used premium car sector with used premium
computers. If you look for a one year old BMW they are
in short supply but a two year old is becoming available.
Our sector is similar and we advise our clients to look
at areas where a two year old “BMW” would
be good enough not the one year old. With our equipment
this would currently be a high end PIII or entry level
PIV. By minimizing the obsolescence faced when buying
new but still providing adequate technology savings can
be substantial. One common mistake is to compare our reconditioned
tier one equipment against brand new equipment at the
initial point of purchase; our advantages are clearly
visible over the longer term. |
| |
|
| 8. |
So could you summarize
what sets Rentwise apart from other IT hardware or financing
companies. |
| |
We are a “true” one stop shop. We will migrate
what is generally a multi level hardware and operating
system infrastructure to one consistent platform. This
currently would be XP with reconditioned or new hardware
to suit the job function. We fully support this infrastructure
and finance it with a very attractive rental model. To
our knowledge in the Malaysian Market we are the only
company providing the entire service. This model will
"insure" clients against technology obsolescence;
there will be no continued struggle with having to keep
up with technology at whatever speed it may progress;
our cycle will naturally refresh thereby automatically
maintaining rented equipment one step behind leading edge
technology in none critical areas and the latest and greatest
in the small percentage of areas that truly need it. In
addition the hardware support is worry free as we provide
full maintenance built into the rental cost for the period
of the rental. One single fully inclusive cost. |
